A New Western Rite Monastery in Ontario

The Metropolia has started a stavropegial monastery (Western Rite) in Ontario under the direction of Bishop Lazr. The Monastery is named for the Elevation of the Triumphant Cross. With the knowledge and blessing of Archbishop JOSEPH of Edmonton and Canada, the Western Rite monastery was established under the direct spiritual care of Metropolitan JOHN of New York, First-Hierarch of the Synod.

Bp Lazr, once a Uniate Priest, later became Orthodox and became a monk at the ROCOR Monastery in Jordanville for about 11 years where he served as Choir Director. He was most recently in Korea and was received by the Metropolitan into the Church earlier this month.
