Metropolitan John’s Visit to Avlona

This past April 12th (OS) / 25th (NS) to April 14th (OS) / 27th (NS), His Beatitude, Metropolitan John, assisted by Vicar-Bishop Enoch and Hegumen Boniface, visited the Primatial Cathedral of our Sister True Orthodox Church of the Patristic Calendar, located in Avlona, Greece; His Beatitude, Vladyka John, met and concelebrated on Myrrhbearers’ Sunday, April 13th (OS) / 26th (NS), with His Beatitude, Metropolitan Cherubim of Bithynia, President of the Avlona Synod, and with His Beatitude, Metropolitan Seraphim of Moscow, Chief Hierarch of the Russian Church, and President of the Synaxis of True Orthodox Church, along with many other Bishops, Priests, Deacons, and other clergy from Greece, Russia, and Bulgaria, and other nations. There were several thousand people in attendance at the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy on the Sunday of the Myrrhbearers; after the Liturgy, a Procession with the Icon Theogenitoros, was made around the monastery grounds. Our Synod of Bishops, as well as clergy, and laity rejoice in the annual and continual renewal of formal communion via concelebration among the chief hierarchs and other clergy, among our Churches, and stand firm in our confession of Orthodoxy against the various heresies of Modernism and Ecumenism, and in proclamation of the Gospel Teaching of salvation to all who would believe and be baptized in the Orthodox Church and follow Our Lord Jesus Christ.
