Vaccine Exemption Document

The following document was drawn up by His Beatitude, Metropolitan John, in order to help clergy and laity who are having trouble with employers; since, it has become apparent that many employers are trying to force Orthodox Christians to accept an immorally produced vaccine product. Our Church opposes all current Coronavirus Vaccines. This document serves as a template; for individual documents for our clergy and laity for particular employers and other circumstances, please contact us.

Nativity of the Holy Theotokos

Glory be to God in all things.

To any employer for whom it may concern:

The Holy Synod of the Autonomous Metropolitan Orthodox Church of North and South America and the British Isles and the dependencies thereof does not allow its Clergy or faithful Laity to take any Coronavirus vaccines that are currently produced anywhere in the world because all these pharma companies that do so produce these vaccines are in some way currently making use of fetal abortion cell lines in the manufacturing or production of these vaccines. This is based upon a decision issued by our Synod of Bishops on April 13^th, 2021. This statement can be found on the Synodal website as indicated here:

Any future vaccines produced must, in order for our Clergy or Laity to take them, be approved by the Metropolitan of our Synod of Bishops in conjunction with the Holy Synod after careful research and study to ensure that they do not violate the religious and moral teachings of our Church against abortion. Failure of our Clergy or Laity to adhere to this policy places them under the culpability of mortal sin and imposing the further sentence of excommunication.

Therefore it is incumbent that Employers of all types must respect the religious and moral rulings of our Church regarding their employees that are members of our Churches, as expounded by the rulings of our Bishops.

El Santo Sínodo de la Iglesia Ortodoxa Metropolitana Autónoma de América del Norte y del Sur y las Islas Británicas y las dependencias de las mismas no permite que ni sus Cleros ni laicos fieles tomen las vacunas de Coronavirus que se producen actualmente en cualquier parte del mundo porque todas estas empresas farmacéuticas que producen estas vacunas están utilizando actualmente de alguna manera líneas celulares de aborto fetal en la fabricación o producción de estas vacunas. Esto se basa en una decisión emitida por nuestro Sínodo de Obispos el 13 de abril de 2021. Esta declaración se puede encontrar en el sitio web sinodal como se indica aquí:

Cualquier futura vacuna producida debe, para que nuestro cleros o laicos las tome, ser aprobada por el Metropolitano de nuestro Sínodo de Obispos en conjunto con el Santo Sínodo después de una cuidadosa investigación y estudio para asegurar que no violen las normas religiosas y enseñanzas morales de nuestra Iglesia contra el aborto. Si nuestro cleros o laicos no se adhiere, esta política los coloca bajo la culpabilidad de pecado mortal e imponiendo la sentencia adicional de excomunión.

Por lo tanto, es incumbencia que los Empleadores de todo tipo deben respetar las normas religiosas y morales de nuestra Iglesia con respecto a sus empleados que son miembros de nuestras Iglesias, como lo exponen las normas de nuestros Obispos.
